Explaining Yourself

Our company mailserver runs qmail. We use a stock program call qmail-queue-scanner or something like that which does some rudamentary scanning on incoming e-mails as one step (of a few) against spam and virii. One thing this script does is check for attachments with certain extensions, like .HTM or .VBS, and if it sees them it rejects the e-mail back to the sender.

Fun Morning

Nutty coworker wanted to check the level of one of our coolant tanks, so he stuck a tape measure in it to check the level. The pump which keeps coolant flowing in this tank got ahold of his tape measure and yanked it out of his hand, cutting up his hand. It also came close to trashing the pump. Luckily, it got stuck in a valve pre-pump and didn’t do any damage, other than the sheer fact that this guy always seems responsible for some form of stupidity on a monthly basis.

Email spam

Our work website receives its fair share of SPAM. However, bulk spamming is more of a problem than direct user SPAM. And today, I did something about it.
