Funny Thought

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

I was remembering my first day of Power Lab in college. The professor talked about things like big volts and amps and watts and mhos (or Siemens, if you prefer).

He then told us what we’d be doing at our lab stations. He made mention that none of the lab stations had chairs (you had to stand the whole time). He said it was for a simple reason:

When someone accidentally gets themselves into 480 Volts they’d be thrown backwards and a stool would only serve as a means for them to hit their head. They were better off having a clean open area to fall into, in order to better survive the shock.

Yikes!
