Help me out

I don’t understand where money goes these days.

Think about your town - namely the infrastructure. Roads have been paved, signs put up, street lights wired, utility poles put in. For the most part, the infrastructure of all of that stuff is set in. yeah, they still add new, but not at the rate that they have in the past.

So all of the tax money that went to put all of that in, where does that go today? Maintenance of all of that stuff can’t be nearly what it cost to put in in the first place.

My rough guess is that we only spend 10% of the money to new road and utility projects that we spent previously on installing the basis.

Where does all of the money go now?

Help me out here.

they didn’t build the whole infrastructure at once - they built it gradually. so they have probably always spent 10% on new stuff.

also, since there is always more and more existing stuff, the cost of maintenance is always increasing, which decreases the money available to spend on more new stuff.

But my point is that over the past 50 years, the amount of work going into creating the infrastructure is not going to be equal to what they’ll put into it over the next 50 years, since it’s already there.

I’m guessing there are always new subdivisions going in and updating the 50 year old stuff. Don’t forget they have to repair the roads in order to justify the budget. And no one works for 25ยข/day anymore.

Once the revenue stream is there, don’t worry, the powers that be will find a way to justify it. The only way to change this system is to vote .org ‘06!
