IvyTech

Well, the class I was going to teach this fall term at Ivy Tech didn’t go through, so I’m not teaching this fall.

Which is fine by me - I’ve got lots of other things I’d like to accomplish this fall without having to deal with a new class (Intro to Game Programming and Simulation). I’m a little surprised it didn’t go through, there were 7 people signed up, but que sera sera.

When I was searching for other classes for the fall that were still open that I could teach, I came across this list. This is a list of online classes which Ivy Tech offers from the Columbus campus. Note that all of the online classes already had people teaching them - they go pretty quickly from the class pool. Most of the full timers teach them, since they’re so little work.

But if you look at the list, you may note two classes that I find particularly interesting:

“Intro to Microcomputers”

and

“Intro Interpersonal Comm”

Remember, these are online classes. Now, please tell me how you can SUCCESSFULLY teach CIS101 - Intro to Microcomputers - via a computer. Wouldn’t the person using the computer have to know enough about computers to successfully not need to take the course?

Furthermore, how can you teach “Intro to Interpersonal Communications”, which is a public speaking class, via the internet? How do they give public speeches in the class?

Ivy Tech is the most affordable college in Indiana. I suppose in this case, you get what you pay for.

I’d like to take an online PE class. That would be BANG!

yes, I ran 28 miles today, in 78 minutes.

My Interpersonal Comm class had no speeches. It was more like taking a psychological look at the different ways people communicate. But it wasn’t Intro to, so maybe that’s different and I also don’t go to Ivy Tech so that may have something to do with it too.
