Fast Food

Okay, time for a rant.

Historically, the “drive through window” was noted as a symbol of convenience. You don’t want to get out of your car for a megaburger? okay, fine, no problem.

But the thing is, I view the this modern convenience as something akin to the “10 items or less” lane at the store. That is, it should be something that is for convenience, but also something such that it keeps up with the quickness that is akin to the idea of “fast food”.

But some places don’t seem to follow this. I was thinking about this at dinner tonight with the wife at a place called “The Patio” which isn’t really much of a fast food restaurant, but has a drive through. It’s definitely a convenience, but I would estimate that each person waits around 5 minutes for their food. Now, if you get 3 or 4 people in line…then it’s not convenient anymore.

Fazoli’s is another example. If you could only order pasta, that would be great. But you can order pizzas at the drive through. This completely slows down the whole process for anyone behind you.

What’s up with this?

altso, the drive thru SHOULD BE 10 items or less. i hate waiting behind people who are ordering like $75 worth of food (for their entire office) at the mcdonald’s drive thru window.

schlotzsky’s is another example of a slow food drive thru.
