Flights online

Okay, at some point in your life I’m sure you’ve made some kind of flight reservation on one of the many online spots to do that (Orbitz, Hotflights.terk, Expedia, etc).

Now, I’m pretty sure the whole thing is hit or miss in the grand scheme of things. But here’s what I don’t understand. You put in your flight info and it spits back some information, usually in increasing order in price. And it ends up looking something like that:

INDIANAPOLIS TO TERKVILLE

Airline A - non-stop $200
Airline B - non-stop $220
Airline C - 1 stop $260
Airline D - 1 stop $500
Airline E - 2 stops $980

Now, has anyone ever gone with Airline E? What’s the point of putting up the options that cost 2-3 times as much as the average of the others? Anyone know what I’m talking aboot here?

Those are probably the fully refundable, changeable, etc. tickets that we always end up with on travel. Useful if you are less than sure of when you’re returning and or leafing in the first place.

Or your internets could be broke or belong to us.

    I’m with you brother.

Also, check out farecatcher.org. It’s pretty slick, also pretty useless. But slick nevertheless.
