We cannot show you the price
I love shopping on Amazon.com. I usually find things at good prices, and the super saver shipping makes it even nicer.
But I’m a bit miffed at why a lot of the items don’t show you a price. Instead, they say “Add me to the shopping cart and I’ll show you the price there”. Why?
I just noticed Walmart.com does the same thing for some of their items.
What’s the reason for this? Do they not know the price until you are ready to buy it? Is there someone at the other end trying to guess what I’ll pay for it? What gives?

Its just a marketing gimmick, to (I assume) get you to buy it. I think its just plain annoying.

This also keeps bots of competitors from crawling through the sites to record the price just to be able to beat them by a few bucks.

They are required to do so by terms of agreements they make with the manufacturers. In return for price breaks on the item, they agree not to advertise the discount price. It is considered an advertisement until you click on it.

I bought a wireless whatnot from them and signed up for their credit card because it promised me a $30 credit on my first purchase. Then it wouldn’t let me use the credit because the wireless whatnot was not sold directly through amazon. A traches!
But, then I bought a digital camera from dell.com (using a $25 credit I got for signing up for their credit). So I wanted some rechargable batteries and a case for the camera. I used my $30 credit at amazon. Coupled with the super saver shipping, my cost for 8 NiMH batteries, charger, and case was $3.04.
I plan on cancelling my Amazon.com credit card soon.

just bought 4 books from them for $37.20 (would have been like $100 at Barnes and Noble). got the amazon.com CC for $30 savings (off original price of $67.20) and signed up for amazon prime for free 2 day shipping, bung!
