A look forward

Now, I present to you my 2005 predictions.

  1. 2005: The year of spyware. Identity theft will become a lot more common as people continue to run their computers with outdated antivirus files and no firewalls.
  2. MLB will begin to test for certain types of questionable enchancements in the players. It will not be as rigorous as other major league sports.
  3. The NHL strike will continue on through the rest of the season. And, nobody will continue to notice.
  4. The Paris Hilton phrase “That’s Hot” will go out of style. It will be replaced by the more generalized phrase “oyab6″
  5. Fazolis, in keeping with the low carb craze, will begin offering blowjobs as an alternative to “all you can eat breadsticks”
  6. The US will make a formal exit from Iraq. This will allow the media time to focus their attention more on highly important matters like Scott Peterson and Michael Jackson.
  7. Bill Clinton will receive more sexual favors from a young unattractive girl. We’ll never find out, because his secret service guards will be given the same favors from said girl in return for keeping quiet.
  8. Many companies who have opened up call centers and tech centers in India will start to make the migration back, as the Indian folks start to realize that they can demand much higher salaries than they are getting.
  9. Hybrid cars will continue to grow in demand, as will SUVs. Hybrid owners will bit ch about SUV gas guzzling, but will eat crow when their cars get stuck in 18 inches of snow. SUV owners will bitch about how hybrids get big tax deductions on their cars, but will eat crow when a crow when a hybrid car with a hydrogen fuel cell blows up and kills all passengers on board.
  10. The tarkblog will ungergo at least two redesigns. But you knew that already.
  11. The US will start being much more serious about other countries’ nuclear capability - particularly Iran or North Korea. A new secret strategy will be formed called the “tsunami accords” in which the US will run nukes into an ocean or gulf instead of directly on the country in question.
  12. And, finally: There will be a saved by the bell reunion show.
  13. I hope your 2k5 is full of good health, fun, and fortune.
