Credit Report

Surely by now you’ve heard that you can get a free copy of your credit report at AnnualCreditReport.com.

I’ve done it twice in the past year and a half or so. Nothing that I didn’t already know popped up.

However, I never did find out my credit (FICO) score. Mostly because you have to pay for it. And I’m a cheapskate.

Now, I get plenty of 0% credit card offers, so I’m figuring it must be pretty good. WellsFargo has no problem lending us a lot of money on top of the mortgage I already have. So they must have some faith in it.

But what I heard tonight dropped my jaw.

I was talking with Ryan@WellsFargo who is handling our new mortgage, locking in rates, and getting some details about the mortgage. I was trying to find out about a timeline and stuff for closing, and he said all we’re waiting on is an appraisal (this is exactly one day after signing a purchase agreement). He said we may also have to provide a written letter stating our intent to sell the first home, which is no problem.

However, I asked him about paperwork he would need from me to finish authorization. Previously, I had to supply copies of bank statements, W2s, savings accounts, retirements accounts, etc. Ryan told me that wasn’t needed. Our credit scores were high enough, they don’t need verification of our information.

Basically, they were going to order the appraisal and as soon as it was done we’d be able to schedule closing. My guess is it will happen before the home is inspected, which is a week from today.

Color me stoked.

Dude, you can get (if i’m remembering correctly) one credit report per year from each of the three reporters (Transunion is the only one I can remember off the top of my head). They’ll tell you your credit score.

They’ll tell you their credit score, but not your FICO score, which is somehwat of an aggregate of all 3 and what is used by lenders.

Also, I know you can get a free credit report. I wrote it as the first sentence in the entry.

That’s interesting. My credit score is quite high, but I still had to provide all kinds of things to my lender (bank statements, pay stubs, blood sample, urine sample, semen sample - I just left them my underwear)…

Anyway - interseting - and congratulations!!

Guys beware of purchases made through http://www.creditreport.com/
They have many hidden charges. The way they advertise thier price deludes one into believing thats the final price. And nowhere during the transaction they mention their actual price..and booooom when you get your monthly statement you become aware that you have been robbed
