New Neighbors

As Celeb and I were returning for lunch on Saturday afternoon, we noticed our new neighbors were outside so we decided to go introduce ourselves.

Well we meet the missus, we’ll call her B; the man of the house, G, was ote. B reminds me quite a bit of my Grandma Pat. We stood outside and talked for 10 or 15 minutes before she invited us in to see her brand new carpet. Celeb jumped at the chance to check out the inside; I was also interested in seeing the layout of the house because it’s a rather small home and it sold for <$100K (very cheap for the neighborhood). The house was in good shape and bigger than I expected but that’s beside the point.

While we were visiting, B proceeded to tell me quite a bit of her life story. I have emphysema. My cousin died of this type of cancer; my first husband died of this type of cancer. We moved up from Florida about a year ago. One of the things B asked us about the new neighborhood was the lack of sidewalks; she likes to walk and was a little disappointed that there aren’t any around. I mentioned that I ran, in the road, and didn’t have any problems with the traffic. When Caleb mentioned that I ran down by the co-op (co-ops is around 3 miles away), I thought B was going to need a bit of oxygen. B then proceeded to tell us how G sometimes walks with her but he can’t keep up because he’s got the diabetes.

I think B and G are going to make good neighbors. Expect that they plan on parking their RV in front of their house - the city should nix that though. But we do have an invitation to play cards at the Moose; that might make up for the RV.
