Wal-Tarking

I hate Wal-Mart. But since I save big money there, I go. Yesterday was a Wal-Mart day.

Yesterday must have been cell phone day at Wal-Mart. All over the store there were people talking on there cell phones. I don’t give a hoot if people use there cell phones in the store but I do care when they make it harder for me to shop. I got behind at least 4 people talking and shopping and they were impossible to get around.

I also saw 3 people with blue tooth headphones. WTF?

The C-bus Wal-Mart also started doing electronic checks. The two people in front of me wrote checks (checks suck but that’s another blog) and the cashier had to explain it to each customer so I now have a good understanding of an electronic check. For those of you that don’t know an electronic check is basically the same thing as using your debit card but you still write the check. Wal-Mart processes the check immediately, prints all the information on the check, the register prints out a slip, much like your typical credit card receipt, customer than signs the slip, then the customer gets your check back along with your receipt. Wal-Mart has successfully doubled the time it takes to write a check. Woo-hoo!

Recently overheard at a local grocery store, mother taking cell phone out of her purse telling daughter: “Well, these bananas are pretty ripe. Let’s call grandma and see if she still wants them.” For Pete’s sake, they are 49 cents a pound, just buy them. Also, what would you have done 15 years ago before you had a cell? I assume you would have just bought them.

Furthermore, at our local Wal-mart, people like to meet and greet in the aisles. I can’t count the number of times I have had to completely turn around my cart and enter the aisle from the other end because a group of three of four local yokels and their carts weren’t going anywhere in the foreseeable future.
