More Disness
As I previously wrote, I check out a message board that is related to Disneyworld fairly frequently. And I started some controversy on there a while back, it seems.
Well, that’s all done and over with now.
However, I wanted to write about some gripes that I just don’t understand. See, the board is full of people who are planning their first trip to DW and may have questions about things. And there are plenty of people who can help answer those questions. But, sometimes I think people are just too interested in posting replies than actually helping to answer. As an example, take this recent question (paraphrased):
“Q: I’m going down to DW for the first time in 20 days. I’ve made a reservation for XXXX restaurant and I wanted to know what you thought about it.”
To which there will be at least 10 replies. However, and it never fails, there is always at least one reply like this:
“A: Hi! I’ve never been to restaurant XXXXX so I can’t answer your question, but I’ve heard a lot of people say good things about it so it must be good”.
How is that at all helpful?
Or take this question:
“What type of things do you brnig back for co-workers. I work in a small office and when someone goes on a trip, they bring a gift back. Normally around 2 bucks. I was just wondering what disney has to offer around $1-2″
To which the first reply was:
“I am not sure what is available in the $1-2 range but my BIL loves the Disney boxes of chocolate. They run about $15 and would be perfect for sharing.”
Way to completely not answer the question.
Now, sometimes the questions are just as bad:
“Hi. Has anyone here ever been to the Magic Kingdom? I’m curious what you think.”
My favorite one as of late was someone who wrote and asked what “Fastpass” was. Fastpass is a program where you go to a ride and visit a kiosk and it spits out a ticket with a return time on it. If you come back at that time, you can bypass the regular line and go to the front of the line. It’s a very nice way to not have to stand in line at some of the busier things. Obviously, people have questions about this, like how much it costs (FREE) and how many you can get (varies depending on the time of the year). The people who run the forums have actually made a page all about this with all of the frequently asked questions and answers about Fastpass.
So someone asks what it is. And 26 people reply. 10 of them include a link to the page that explains all about it.
But then the person writes back again asking “how much it costs”. Okay now, at least 3 of the original replies said it was free and the linked page definitely says it. It’s obvious this person isn’t paying attention.
More to follow, I’m sure.
