Marathons
I am not running a marathon this weekend (like Irwin and Stevens). I’m not allowed.
OK, so I’m allowed but I promised Caleb I wouldn’t run more than 7 miles at one time ever again. I hurt my back big-tim a little over a month ago. The injury wasn’t due to running, it was from digging in the yard but all of the longer-than-7-mile distance runs weren’t helping. Anyway, I was in a lot of pain…it hurt to sit down, it hurt to take big steps, it was the worst thing ever and it sucked! So I decided to hang up the long distance running shoes.
I’m sad, though. Training/running half marathons was rewarding. Plus, I always kinda wanted to run a marathon - even though I had serious doubts about surviving the 26 miles. I guess I feel like a worthless runner ’cause I can’t run long distances - I know, I know 7 miles isn’t chump change but it’s hard to deal with ending that part of my running career.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love to run. I’ve just got to gain a new perspective on running.
