Our neighbors must hate us

Well, not really I suppose.

When I bought my first house, I was one of the first people living in a new neighborhood. I bought a corner lot. This meant I only had one immediate neighbor, and the lot behind mine was vacant and was supposed to stay vacant for many years as it was going to be used by the builder in the future for a model home.

My neighbors moved in about 6 months after I did. They stayed for about 4 years, and one night, vanished. Like, the house was empty. About a week later, some new folks moved in. There was never a for sale sign, never any indiciation new people would be moving in. It just happened one day.

I never met the new folks, because we ended up moving shortly thereafter.

Our new house is adorned with neighbors on both sides. Immediately after moving in, our neighbor to the left sold her house. One month later, due to death our neighbors to the right sold their house. I didn’t get a chance to talk much to either of them.

Now, our new neighbors to the left are selling the house again, after being there only a few months. They’re building a new one and wanted to get out of this one. But the kicker here is: they sold the house for about 20k more than they paid for it (they publish house selling prices in the newspaper, so it’s very easy to track). In 4 months. The only improvement they made was new carpeting! Holy cow.

I haven’t yet met the new neighbor to the right, as it’s been cold and damp these past few weeks, and she only just moved in within the past month and she hasn’t been outside at all that I’ve seen. I plan to go say hi to her eventually, but I’m afraid she may end up just putting her house for sale again.

Luckily, the folks across the alley haven’t put their house for sale yet. Only time will tell.

Nope, no plans to sell the house…too many projects started! Who knows, maybe WE are the neighbors everyone is moving away from…we have been using a lot of noisy power tools in the garage…
I didn’t realize they were selling that house again. that’s odd.
