Since everyone else is blogging about canoe trips, I thought I should, too.

Last Friday my department took our annual canoe trip. The morning started off with a pot luck breakfast at a co-workers house. Then we headed to Blue’s Canoes . We opted for the short (6 mile) canoe trip since the river was down. The boss lady confirmed with the Blue’s worker that the river was in excellent shape. After gathering all of the necessary materials, we boarded the short bus and headed upstream to the drop off location.

The disembark went smoothly but not 20 minutes after we were in our canoes, both Lisa (the boss-lady) and I had to get out of the canoe and drag it about 30 feet down the river because the water was too low; oh well for the river being in tip top shape. About half our group of 13 got stuck at this place.

Boss-lady and I got stuck a couple more times but only one of those times, Lisa had to get out of the canoe and push. No one tipped this year; the second year in a row. But a bunch of people got stuck in shallow waters. One canoe got stuck on a log. The same two people also had a head on collision with a tree. There was a massive water fight between three people, some work related gossip, and some miscellaneous shenanigans.

All in all it was an excellent way to spend a day of work!
