Frustrations
I’ve got a couple of frustrations that I would like to share…
Number 1
A coworker has an iPhone…it’s awesome. But I’m starting to loathe it. To access email via the iPhone automatically (i.e. not via the web) you have to use IMAP (an email retrieval protocol). Unfortunately, our Exchange Server isn’t configured to use IMAP. I’m sure Apple will resolve this issue. However, I’ve got a couple of VPs that are getting the iPhone earlier next month. So, know I’ve got some monkeys on my back.
Number 2
Just shy of two weeks ago, a large anti-virus software company announced a vulnerability in all versions of it’s software before a certain version. Every computer on campus has the version with the vulnerability. The software company has an upgrade tool but I can’t get it to work. I’m ready to migrate the whole campus to Macs.
Number 3
What in the world possesses people to paint trim a color other than white? The previous owner’s of our house decided it would be a good idea to paint a bunch of the trim in the house this peach color. It looks good with the current paint scheme but since we’re going to change the color of the room, we’ve decided to change the trim color to white. The repainting of the trim isn’t so bad but repainting the doors sucks. There’s carpet on the stairs and the trim runs right to the carpet…that’s going to be interesting.
Number 4
Wallpaper is trach. One of the previous owner’s put a border on the ceiling of the entryway. The wallpaper is peeling off OK but the glue is not. I’m pretty unstoked about the removal process. Getting it off shouldn’t be too hard, but it’ll make a huge mess.
BUT on the bright side, Strassenfest 2K7 is in 9 days!!

the entire navy has the same antivirus program, AND a lot of employees use that program at home for free. that’s a lot of computers to update.
wallpaper is trach. don’t know what you’re doing to remove glue, but i had pretty good luck with a goo gone/water solution in a spray bottle and a large putty knife

we had a huge amount of wallpaper removal, we bought one of those steam removal tools. It is the bomb, I doubt I would buy it for just a border though.

Ditto on the DIF wallpaper remover (especially for borders). I’ve used DIF along with a rag and some water. Although I’m sure a steam tool would also rock.

Do you need your scrapers back? We are finally finished with them! Sounds like you are past the paper removal part, but we also have a steamer if you ever need to borrow it.
