Health Problems Solved?
Back a few months ago, when was Celebejed! he came across some information about TMJ causing interesting health issues.
So while he was at his dentist appointment about two months ago, he had the dentist check for TMJ. Dentist observed a slight misalignment and suggested Caleb wear a bite guard to correct the issue. Low and behold, it eliminated Caleb’s headaches.
Flash forward to Tuesday of this week…I had my bi-annual dentist appointment on Tuesday morning. On a whim, I asked the dentist if he could check my mouth for any alignment problems thinking it might be the solution the my health problems. I honestly didn’t think the dentist would find anything but I figured it couldn’t hurt. Surprisingly, I have a high tendency to develop TMJ. I didn’t catch all of the medical jargon but based on the hygienist’s reaction it’s a pretty bad. The dentist strongly suggested giving up gum (which I’ve done) and hard to chew foods like crusty Italian breads (yeah right). The dentist offered to refer me to a TMJ specialist which I declined; I’m not really experiencing jaw pain or discomfort when eating. Another option the dentist recommended that I look into is braces but I opted for a bite-guard.
I’ve been using the bite guard almost constantly for two days now. Granted it hasn’t been a significant amount of time but I haven’t had any headaches and haven’t been bothering as much. However, my teeth are starting to hurt now and it’s getting difficult to bite on harder foods (a Quaker Chewy Granola bar). And as much as the bite guard is annoying me, it’s uncomfortable to take it out. It seems to be working. Hopefully, this is the solution!

temporo-mandibular joint
technically, i guess i have a high tendency to develop tmj syndrome. tmj syndrome is acute or chronic inflammation of the temporo-mandibular joint.
