Home Improvement - Bathroom Upgrade
A while back, we decided that it would be advantageous to reconfigure out house from 4BED/1.5 BATH to 3BED/2.5 BATH, especially since one of the “bedrooms” was a bit small for today’s standards. Thus documents this journey.
This room was used an office before we moved in, and we actually used it as an office for a while.

Let the destruction begun:

In order to get plumbing into this room, we had to do some cutting into the red room below. This cutout houses the drain pipe and the water supply pipe, as well as a new electrical line we had run for the sink outlets.

After the plumbing was run in the floor, and the subfloor placed, the framing for the shower began:

The cultured marble shower panels were set into place, as well as the rest of the marble:

And soon, everything was falling into place

A few coats of paint, some trim work, and adding the final touches and we’re done (except for blinds, one small piece of trim yet to go, and a vanity light):

A couple of notes:
This shower is phenomenally HUGE.
Why not a double sink? Well, if we did we would lose a bunch of counter space as well as drawer space. We opted for the single per recommendation of the plumber. Time will tell if that was wise or not. If not, there’s always another bathroom right across the hall.
The bathtub is a small plain model. We never use the one we have now, and don’t anticipate using this one. However, our current tub is a jacuzzi style, and as such giving a kid a bath in it is undesirable. Thus we opted to go ahead and put in a tub in case a kiddo comes along the way. Otherwise, it’s probably better for resale.
The floor is a vinyl tile called “Metrofloor”. Basically a very high quality industrial tile. They didn’t want us to use ceramic tile because of settling issues and that it would cause a pretty big step UP into the room.
