Mortgage Mess
We’ve been pretty lucky I guess that we didn’t buy a house that was well outside of what we could afford.
I have mixed feelings on the whole mortgage mess thing, because I haven’t yet decided exactly who I wanted to blame the most: the borrowers or the lenders.
But I think my negative thoughts on the predatory lending practices came highlighted in a letter I got in the mail on Thursday. Note how the address is hand written

Inside was a single post it note, and a business card:

The bottom of the post-it note, in very small print, read: “We are not from your current mortgage company”
Talk about a shady thing to do. Basically, drop a note in the mail to someone with the look as though you know them and need to talk to them about something personal.
I can only imagine how many folks fell for this.

Why does anyone need to be blamed? If anything, blame the government that other peoples’ idiodic behavior–lenders and borrowers alike–affects you and I.
